April 26th, 2007 @ 12th & Porter—Jeremy Lister

Jeremy Lister is Flawless at 12th & Porter

Over one year ago, Jeremy Lister announced that he had signed a deal with Warner Brothers. Yet, to date, no major label debut has been released, and no release date appears to be on the horizon. The long wait has led to speculations over whether Lister is caught in the Warner machine. These speculations alone are enough to erase any lingering doubt some may have had regarding the choice over small indie versus a major. Nevertheless, is it possible that the good folks at Warner are allowing Lister to mature a bit more before squashing radio stations worldwide with his debut record? If the latter is indeed the case, and Warner is actually nurturing Lister, then somebody at Warner should get promoted. But if the former is true, and Lister is caught in the big label corporate disputes over artistic choices, etc., then maybe it's time for an email campaign. Because Thursday night's performance at 12th & Porter proved that Lister has not only matured, but that he also deserves to have the full weight of Warner's powerful marketing campaigns behind him — now!

There is no question that Lister will be a welcome addition to top-40 radio formats across the globe, as he now flawlessly delivers powerful vocals that seamlessly transition from a McCartney-esque full voice to an amazing falsetto reminiscent of the late Jeff Buckley. To be sure, Lister's voice could be described as the perfect blend of Paul McCartney, Jeff Buckley, and Jason Mraz.
